Master Larry Mattox is a 7th Degree Black Belt with over 46 years of experience in Central Shaolin Martial Arts. Master Mattox has his own school in Cynthiana, KY where he has been teaching for over 44 years, including Shaolin, Self Defense, Tai Chi, Chi Kung and various internal forms. Studying with Grandmaster Hiang Thè since 1977, Master Mattox received his 7th degree rank on November 12, 2023

Master Barnes completed his testing and earned his 6th Degree Master rank on Sunday, June 20, 2004 from Grandmaster Hiang Kwang Thè. Master Barnes has been studying martial arts with Master Thè since 1977 and lives in Richmond, KY and works in the insurance and financial investment field.

Lexington, KY: Master Dick Gabriel is a 6th degree Black Belt who has been studying Chung Yen Shaolin martial arts since 1977. Born in Louisville, Dick initially joined the club while attending the University of Kentucky in order to write a series of articles as Sports Editor of the Kentucky Kernel.
Dick is currently employed by IMG College, the rights holder for the University of Kentucky TV and radio networks, as well as the Southeastern Conference radio network. Dick also hosts a nightly radio sports talk show in Lexington on WLAP-AM. He spent 22 years as Sports Manager at WKYT-TV in Lexington. During that time, he produced a TV news 6-part series on the club's trip to China and Japan in 1994. Dick also lived two years in Dallas, Texas, where he was an instructor.
Dick earned his sixth degree Black Belt in April of 2011. Dick has extensive studies in Tai Chi, Pa Kua, and Chi Kung.

Cynthiana, KY: Master Kevin Sullivan is a 6th degree Black Belt who has studied Chung Yen Shaolin martial arts since 1994. Master Larry Mattox has always been his primary teacher, but he has learned numerous forms from Grandmaster Hiang Thè, Master David Cubine & Master Dean Hill. He continues to train in Cynthiana & is also an assistant instructor for Master Mattox.
He served in the Navy, has retired from the maintenance department at Toyota after 27 years, but still does factory contract work. Kevin received his 6th degree rank on June 21, 2022.

Master Erik Ackerman is a 6th degree black belt teaching beginner and intermediate classes at the Beaumont Gatton YMCA in Lexington. He has been a student of Grandmaster Hiang Thè since the mid 1980s, and of Master David Cubine since the early 2000s. Erik received his 6th Degree Black Belt, September 2, 2023.

Lexington/Cynthiana, KY: Master Ben began studying Shaolin Martial Arts in his hometown of Cynthiana with Master Larry Mattox in 1991. He currently lives in Lexington where he studies with Grandmaster Hiang Thé and Master Dave Cubine. He also regularly practices pushing hands and Liu Fo Tao sparring with Master Dean Hill.
Master Ben teaches several classes in Lexington, including Shaolin and Tai Chi.
His main areas of focus include Tai Chi and Qi Gong; Pushing Hands and Liu Fo Tao sparring; and forms from the Internal, Tai P’eng, and Drunken systems. He also enjoys studying Chinese language, poetry, and philosophy.
He received his 6th Degree Black Belt November 5, 2023.
